Live, structured sessions using the AAA “How to Drive” curriculum. Focused on decision-making, hazard awareness, and real-world scenarios - not just test preparation.
30 Hours Online Classroom
Progressive, individualized instruction in traffic environments that build skill, judgement, and safe driving habits.
6 Hours Behind-the-Wheel
Students observe live driving sessions and instructor feedback to reinforce techniques and develop situational awareness.
6 Hours Observation

Parent Information & Requirements
The following information outlines course expectations, policies, and requirements for students and families enrolled in VT Drivers Ed.

Students enrolled in VT Drivers Ed must:
Be at least 15 years of age
Hold a valid Vermont learner’s permit
Participate respectfully during all instruction
Follow instructor guidance and traffic laws
Remain substance-free during classroom and driving sessions
Students must maintain valid driving privileges throughout the course. Families should notify the instructor immediately of any suspension or change affecting eligibility.

A required in-person parent and student meeting is held at the beginning of the course.
During this meeting we will review:

Communication procedures
Required documentation
Driving session scheduling

Reserving a seat is simple and completed in two steps.
A deposit is required to reserve a student’s place in the course
Full payment must be completed prior to the start of instruction
Enrollment confirmation and course information are provided after registration

Driving sessions require advance coordination.
Students should arrive on time for all scheduled lessons
At least 24 hours notice is requested for cancellations whenever possible
Missed sessions without notice may be rescheduled toward the end of the course based on availability
Consistent attendance allows students to progress safely and confidently.

Regular attendance helps students stay on track and complete the course successfully.
Students must attend all scheduled classroom sessions.
Two make-up sessions are offered at the end of the course for unavoidable absences.
All required classroom, driving, and observation hours must be completed for successful course completion.

Vermont requires students to complete at least 40 hours of additional supervised driving practice outside formal instruction.
Parents or guardians play an important role in helping students gain experience in a variety of driving conditions.
Guidance will be provided to help families structure practice safely and effectively.

Students who complete all required instruction hours receive a Vermont Driver Education Completion Certificate.
To complete the course, students must:
Complete classroom instruction
Complete required driving and observation hours
Participate consistent with course expectations
Completion of driver education does not guarantee successful completion of the Vermont DMV road test.
